Matt is one of Canada's most beloved male vocalists, forging a career in music that has resulted in 3 critically-acclaimed studio albums including a gold record for the debut album Two Shots. Matt is eager to take his show – and his 9-man band of horns rhythm – on the road, for it is the stage that really gets his juices going.
Rita Chiarelli
Rita Chiarelli, Canada's most highly acclaimed female roots and blues artist, has just released the soundtrack for her award winning documentary, Music From The Big House, her 9th recording. With a Juno award and 4 subsequent Juno nominations, she is known across Canada as the "Goddess of the Blues".
Jane Bunnett & the Spirits of Havana
Multiple Juno Award winner, Jane Bunnett has turned her bands into showcases for the finest talent from Canada, U.S. and Cuba. An internationally acclaimed musician, Jane Bunnett is known for her creative integrity, improvisational daring and courageous artistry. Her exploration of Afro-Cuban melodies expresses the universality of music and her ability to embrace and showcase the rhythms and culture of Cuba has been groundbreaking.

Ken Whiteley is a Canadian roots music legend. His musical journey has taken him from jug band, folk and swing to blues, gospel and children's music. Ken’s productions have garnered 10 Canadian Gold and Platinum records, 4 American Gold records, 22 Juno and 2 Grammy nominations, and sold over 8 million copies.
Christine Tassan et les Imposteures
These four musicians burst on stage and deliver a lively and outstanding concert. An all-female group is a rare thing in jazz and quite unique in gypsy jazz! With tremendous energy, on-stage chemistry and a passion for playing together, these musicians improvise with ease and sing as well! In concert, their pieces alternate from gypsy instrumental to vocal, always with original arrangements and rhythmic compositions!
Richard Underhill
Richard Underhill’s warm alto sound, great writing and arranging skills and in-from-the-outside soloing make him one of Canada’s most distinctive jazz performers. Richard, founding member of the Shuffle Demons, was awarded the Roy Thomson Hall Award of Recognition in 2008 for his contribution to Toronto musical and artistic community. He also won a Juno Award in 2003 for his jazz debut 'Tales from the Blue Lounge'.
Elvis Bossa Nova!
Elvis Bossa Nova! began as an experiment. The idea was to re-imagine classic Elvis tunes with an eclectic instrumentation, and an interesting mix of musical personalities. They blend the rock, jazz, latin, bluegrass, country, classical and improv musical traditions.
Shirantha Beddage
Shirantha Beddage is a nationally recognized baritone saxophonist, composer and educator.

Tommy Fyfe and the Whiskey River Blues Band
Tommy Fyfe has been communicating with loyal blues fans and converting new disciples around Ontario for the last twenty years with their vast repertoire of great grooves, which draw people in and keeps them moving. The band is made up of Tymmy Fyfe on guitar and vocals, Pete Larabie on keys, Steve Malick on drums and vocals, Andy Bedard on Bass, Stephanie Fyfe on vocals and JoPo on vocals.
Sarah Craig & Sunnyside Paris
Sarah Craig sings gospel and swing alongside Sunnyside Paris (Paul Dunn’s Gypsy Jazz Quartet). With a beautiful full voice and amazing range, she is a northern Ontario original with a unique style that is both modern and traditional.
Frequency
Frequency is a jazz experience that you won't want to miss. Made up of Josh Norling on bass, Matt Devost on clarinet, Matt Yzereef on guitar, Tyler Farquharson on drums, and Mark Mancini on alto sax, this eclectic jazz group plays everything from classic standards, cool ballads, experimental originals and everything in between.
Michael McArthur Group
Born and raised in Sudbury, Michael has been playing jazz in the Sudbury area for the past 15 years. The music Michael plays is firmly rooted in post bop/modern jazz era with major influences being the music of Joe Henderson, Sonny Rollins, Seamus Blake and Ken Vandermark.
No B.S.
No B.S. (an acronym for “No Bass Solos”) is a new quintet based in Sudbury. It was formed in order to let the members explore music influenced by the Soul-Jazz of the 1960’s.
The Mofo Trio
For the two years local guitarist James Dorland, keyboardist Zach Weil and drummer Christopher Dardick have anchored a Sudbury's only jazz house gig the Wednesday night dinner jazz show at the 1500 Pub, a.k.a. Culpeppers restaurant. The group consequently has defined a sound of their own, and is excited to share their homegrown approach this year at the festival with a personally selected set of jazz standards."
The Subterranean Dreadheads
For the 3rd Annual Sudbury Jazz Festival THE SUBTERRANEANS are collaborating with long standing local reggae/ska purveyors THE COMMON DREAD to form THE SUBTERRANEAN DREADHEADS.
This combining of lyrical and musical forces has created one of the most versatile, exciting and entertaining troupes to emerge from the Greater City of Sudbury.
Hilary Welch
Originally from Brampton Ontario, Hilary has been singing her whole life but it wasn't until highschool that she found and completely fell in love with jazz. Throughout her career, Hilary has had the great honor of performing with Jazz Legends including Oscar Peterson and Peter Appleyard as well as members of the renowned vocal jazz ensemble The New York Voices. She studied with Toronto heavyweights like Kirk MacDonald, Mike Murley, Terry Promane, Brian Dickenson and the 2004 National Jazz Award Vocalist of the Year, Heather Bambrick.
The Dhammas
The membership changes each week but most often includes Ryan Levecque, Billy John and Paul Loewenberg with vocal starring roles from Hilary Welch and Anne Boulton. Gather here at Jazzfest for the Gospel Brunch and feel like you are in a kitchen party, a backyard... a small cafe. You'll hear songs of strength and struggle... hardships and joys... work and play. The one true message is that music is universal.
Sulfur City Blues Band
This 4 piece takes the best music of the first half of the 20th century and gives it hell… Lightning Hopkins, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, Jessie Mae Hemphill, Son House, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Nina Simone, Odetta. Lori sings like Bessie Smith and Odetta rolled up into a tiny little frame.
The Borealis Jazz Quartet with Guest James Dorland
The Borealis Jazz Quartet is comprised of Sudbury, Ontario’s finest jazz musicians with Brian Quebec on acoustic bass, Tony Simpkin on piano, Allan Walsh on tenor saxophone and Jack Broumpton on drums, and guest James Dorland on guitar.
The Nickel City Dixie Stompers
The Nickel City Dixie Stompers play 'hot' music from the traditional early jazz of New Orleans and Chicago. Reminiscent of the Summer garden parties and lively street parades of 'The Jazz Era' the group has an authentic instrumental lineup including tailgating trombone, strumming banjo, marching side drum and oohmpa tuba coupled with the collective improvisation of trumpet and clarinet.
