Jazz Sudbury Takes Home Top Honours at FEO Awards

The Jazz Sudbury Festival has been awarded Best New Festival and listed as one of the Top 100 Festivals in the province by Festivals and Events Ontario!
FEO recognizes and celebrates top-notch festivals and events in Ontario, and previously awarded Jazz Sudbury with a 2010 Best Poster win.
FEO awarded Jazz Sudbury with Best New Festival in the $100,000 - $500,000 category and has listed all Top 100 Festivals on its website www.festivalsandeventsontario.ca
"We are thrilled to be presented with these wonderful awards," said Paul Lefebvre, Chair of the Jazz Sudbury Festival. "Our sponsors, volunteers and the whole community have helped us to create a truly fantastic event and we are so pleased to have been acknowledged by FEO."
The Jazz Sudbury Festival is heading into its fourth year and has showcased the talents of local and international performers, inlcuding Michael Kaeshammer, Oliver Jones, Rita Chiarelli and Matt Dusk.
"Beyond being a 'jazz festival', I think this recognition from FEO will remind people that Jazz Sudbury is creating a spectacular event for music lovers in general," said Carmen Simmons, Executive Director of the Sudbury Community Foundation. "People can expect to have a great experience."
The 2012 edition of the Festival will take place from September 6 - 9th.

Submit a two-five minute video of your jazz band and upload it to the website.
After a review by a judging panel and online vote, our winner will walk away with the Sigy Born Award, a chance to play on the opening night of the Jazz Sudbury Festival and $500!
Not bad for a 5 minute video!

New Jazz Series in Sudbury

A new jazz concert series being launched in Sudbury in February, 2012 will support the Joan Mantle Music Trust, which is providing instruments to students in Rainbow Schools.
The first concert in the Jazzworkz Series will showcase the SBQ Trio on Feb. 11. The SBQ Trio features Tony Simpkin on piano, Jack Broumpton on drums and Brian Quebec on bass.

**THE WINNER OF THE 2011 JAZZ SUDBURY ONLINE TALENT SEARCH IS RICKY STONE **
Northern Ontario's talented artists have submitted their videos, and the celebrity judges have narrowed the selection down to four! The online voting process is now done, and we have our 3 finalists!
The TOP THREE finalists will be offered the opportunity to perform their song live at the Jazz Sudbury Festival, on the Main Stage Friday, September 9 where we will announce the winner(s) of the Sigy Born award and the $500 prize.
The Finalists are (in no particular order):
Ricky Stone's Short Video Compilation.
Chelsea Fournier's song I Need a Hero.
Josh Norling, Jeff Holmes & Bryan Gilmartin song Only Four Hours.

Jazz Sudbury Festival Closes With An Afternoon Of Gospel Music
On Sunday afternoon the festival is proud to present an afternoon of Gospel music presented by The Dhammas and ending the weekend will be Ken Whiteley joined by Sudburian, Reverend Jeremy Mahood.
Individual tickets for Sunday, September 10th are $10 or you can purchase a full weekend festival pass for $80.
